After weeks of polemics in Peru by some local media and the officials of the Regional Directorate of Culture \u2013 Cusco and the National Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, Thierry Jamin receives death threats at his home on Tuesday 26 February 2013.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Thierry Jamin discovers an anonymous letter slipped under his door and containing an unambiguous warning: \"Te van a matar. Go out! <\/em>\" , be in English \"They\u2019re going to kill you! Get out!\"<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Some media refer to the death threats received by Thierry Jamin<\/h2>\n

On February 28, 2013, the newspaper El diario el Sol del Cusco<\/span><\/em><\/strong> reacted to these threats and headlined on the front page \"Thierry Jamin received death threats. The French archaeologist received a message in a kraft envelope.\u201d In an article, then broadcast on page 2, the journalist Jonathan Carlos C. returns to this new twist of \"the Machu Picchu affair\". A black and white photo shows Thierry Jamin holding the anonymous document in his hand, followed by a rather laconic caption: \"The tourist reported the threat in order to obtain guarantees for his life.\" <\/p>\n

After the death threats, Thierry Jamin takes legal action in Peru<\/h3>\n

A few days later, Jamin reported this anonymous document to the National Police of Cusco (district of Santiago). The police will take the case seriously enough to place the French researcher under police protection for several weeks. She will also launch several investigations in order to find the author of the threats. In vain. The case will remain there and will be closed with no further action a few months later. <\/p>\n

In March 2013, reacting to the incessant attacks by interposed media of the officials of the Regional Direction of Culture \u2013 Cusco and the National Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, Thierry Jamin is forced to take legal action against these calumnies and defamation repeated daily.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
